Nov. 18: Johnny Rodriguez was a bright light in country music during the 1970s, an uneven time for the genre. He was country’s first Latin American star, with hits like “Just Get Up And Close The Door,” “You Always Come Back (To Hurtin’ Me)” and “Love Put A Song In My Heart.” This number was his last major hit, released this date in 1987 and reaching No. 12 on Billboard‘s country chart the following year.
