Jan. 14: John Denver had a hit with this song in 1981, a performance I always liked. The version I post today is good, too, cut six years earlier by the guy who wrote it. Dick Feller also penned two Jerry Reed smashes,”East Bound And Down” and “Lord, Mr. Ford,” along with a Johnny Cash Top-5er “Any Old Wind That Blows.” Those who know Feller’s work — I don’t, really, but Paul Dennis of The 9513 blog does — have a kind word for his offbeat novelty songs.
